Speaking after the company’s 65th annual general meeting today, group managing director Teh Lip Kim said earlier developments had reached completion, while newer projects were still at an early stage of construction during the financial year ended 31 March 2026 (FY2026).

“Our results reflect the timing of our development cycle. As a boutique developer, the completion of one project and the progress of the next can have a pronounced effect on revenue from year to year,” said Teh.

“Our focus is on delivering our current projects well and building the next phase of our pipeline.”

SDB reported a pre-tax loss of RM35.64 million for FY2026, compared with a pre-tax profit of RM29.71 million a year earlier. Revenue fell to RM173.87 million from RM375.95 million, while the Group recorded a net loss of RM41.07 million.

Its ongoing residential developments are DaMai in Taman Melawati, Selangor and Elina Resort Homes @ Senai in Puchong, Selangor. Both continue to record sales, with total unbilled sales from the Group’s ongoing projects standing at RM155.78 million.

The company is also planning a residential development near Bukit Mertajam, Penang. The proposed project comprises 122 three-storey superlink villas and a clubhouse with facilities for residents.

SDB also set out how its “TRUE, ALWAYS” brand identity is expressed through a manifesto titled SDB Walking Our Talk, Always. Its seven commitments include understanding how people live, building quality into homes from the start, listening and learning, developing responsibly and giving each project the attention it deserves.

“The manifesto puts into words the standards we want to be judged by,” explained Teh. “For us, that means keeping our promises and creating homes that people will continue to value long after they move in.”

Over more than two decades in property development, SDB has thus far delivered 28 developments across Malaysia and Singapore. Its Park Seven condominium in Kuala Lumpur was among Malaysia’s first earthquake-resistant residential buildings. At DaMai, the Group has introduced a design that allows residents to park directly outside their condominium units.

SDB has received 69 awards and accolades to date. Among them, 20trees in Taman Melawati won a FIABCI Malaysia Property Award for low-rise residential development, while Jui Residences in Singapore received a FIABCI Prix d’Excellence World Gold award for mid-rise residential development.
