Park Seven speaks to many people in different voices. It speaks of a notion called “place”. A place in the center of a metropolitan city that has the Petronas Towers and the KLCC Park at its front doorstep. These landmarks locate its residents as being in the center of everything, the center of a place.

It also speaks of calmness. On Level 1 is an environment that engages the resident to relax and contemplate with priorities given, not just to provide functions but also to have a sense of spirit. There is a wonderful openness on this floor that speaks of understated grace, open space with views beyond to provide a feeling of unobstructed freedom. There is a soft sublime greenness that prevails throughout all within the context of a landscape that makes one feel as though one were floating, perhaps, hovering above the many water terraces with its tranquil and peaceful qualities.

Park Seven also speaks of simplicity with integrity. Every element is designed to be both honest in its intent and true in materials. It speaks of a “rawness” that bares a truth that is seen in the character of everything that makes up Park Seven. The concrete finishes of the building, the glass feature walls, the stone seats and water features; the bronze artworks have, each, been

carefully selected with a high level of design care to enhance the environment in a meaningful way. Of special note are the sculptures chosen for Park Seven.

“Light Through Bronze” speaks of both light and an openness of spirit. The work suggests that light is the more powerful force capable of penetrating bronze but it does so in a harmonious balance of mass and void. A hollow that speaks as strong as the surrounding form creates a sense of calmness and receptiveness to its viewer.

“Listening” is less about speaking and more about the act of listening. To encourage the residents to sit, lie and relax on the artwork also suggests that if one is speaking, we will also afford the time to listen with the heart and mind. That there is a sense of engagement, not only with the art but also more importantly with family and friends as they use this art as a venue to better relate to each other.
