Local Herbs

There are numerous local herbs available in Malaysia which we use for cooking and their health benefits are plentiful. Here are some local herbs which have many benefits. You can get them from the local market or supermarket, or you may even have them in your garden!

1. TURMERIC
Known for its antioxidant properties, turmeric helps with joint and inflammation. The latest fad is turmeric latte, so add a pinch of turmeric to your morning coffee!
2. CURRY LEAVES
Curry leaves can be found in most Malaysian curries, and are known to be beneficial for hair loss, skin vitality and the heart.
3. PANDAN
Also known as screw pine leaves, pandan leaves lowers blood pressure and has a lovely scent!
4. BUTTERFLY PEA
Known for its luminous indigo colour, butterfly pea is beneficial for ageing, improving eyesight and overall health. Steep 10 dried flowers in a cup of hot water, strain and drink.
